How the Mangrove Run key art got its purple
We tried four palettes for the mangrove before admitting the obvious: a swamp at dusk is purple or it is nothing. Green read as "generic forest level", blue read as "underwater", and the teal-only pass looked like a dentist's waiting room.
The final art keeps the canopy in deep violets, pushes the egregore into hot pink so your eye never loses the player character, and lets the water carry the only cool blues in the frame.
Rule we wrote down for the whole game: one warm character, one cool world, zero mercy.
The thorn-and-lightning logo came out of the same session — the title wanted to look like something carved into a tree by an entity that doesn't fully understand trees.
